Chapter 5
Since my conversation with Chad I hadn't seen him the entire day, it was  walking on egg shells kind of moment but that didn't bother me. I'm pretty sure his conversation with his mom didn't go as planned I mean if he convinced his mom to kick me out of the house she would have done that already.

The next morning I got up pretty early and when I went to the kitchen mom and miss  Jackie were already in the kitchen preparing breakfast, I greeted them then headed to the refrigerator to grab a glass of water.

It was strange having to wake up to a different environment, usually when I wake up I would check my phone for a couple of minutes, get ready for school, give Nana a peck, have some breakfast then head out for school and my friends would already be waiting for me outside and we would drive to school with loud music playing in the car.
A drop of tear rolled down my face when I thought about my past, suddenly mom's voice came up from behind, I guess she had noticed me zone out of the moment.

"would you like something to eat?" she said as she brought out a plate.

I wiped my face then faced her.

"no not now, is there anything you'd like me to do?"

She hesitated for a moment then gave me a tray that had a cup of coffee on it, sugar, a spoon and some scrambled eggs and an apple on the side.

"I don't know if it's a great idea but if you don't mind you can take this to Chad's room, he must be working out or playing a guitar somewhere so I'm sure you won't run into him."

As soon as I grabbed the tray miss Jackie interrupted.

"why do you want to send this sweet angel into a lion's den early in the morning, you know how grumpy and annoying he can be  especially in the morning. I don't think it's a good idea,,, honey give me the tray I'll take it alright. At least I can take an insult for the morning I'm used to it but you, you don't need to hear that now."

"it's okay miss Jackie" I said as I took the tray from her hand.

"I met him yesterday and trust me I'm starting to get used to it and besides I've met a couple of people who are like that so this is nothing new to me."

When I left with a smile I knew mom was worried, it seems like everybody is afraid of  him and nobody wants to get near him, I must admit I didn't like his attitude yesterday but that's not going to scare me away, he needs somebody to yell at I'll be there to put him in his place.

I walked around the empty hallway looking for his room which wasn't hard to find, it had a big sign right above the door that said *don't come in unless you're told to *
I chuckled then nervously knocked on the door, there was no answer so I knocked again and still got no answer so I decided to slowly open the door, I picked a little to see if he was in sight but he was nowhere to be seen.

*he must be working out or playing guitar somewhere *
I thought to myself, I entered his room and it was so spectacular, usually boys rooms are messy but his was different it was well organized and had a sports/video game kind of design, when I put the tray down I looked around and was just amazed by everything around. I looked to the left and there was a shelf that had nothing but trophies, they were all  gold and well polished who knew this rascal is capable of winning a trophy. As soon as I was about to touch one of the trophies his angry voice came up behind.

"what are you doing here?!"

For a second I was startled then turned to look at him and he had a towel around his waist, his hair was still wet and water was still dripping on his athletic body.

"is that the first thing you'll be saying each time you see me?"

He seemed to be quite uncomfortable when I looked at him so he quickly got another towel and covered his whole body.

"didn't you read the sign on the door?"

"I did and I knocked but I didn't hear anything"

"so you decided to come in just because you didn't hear anything?"

"I thought you weren't around, look I just came here to bring you coffee and that was it"

"it didn't look like you were just here to bring me coffee unless coffee turned in to a trophy , what were you about to do"

"I was looking at your trophies, I'm just going to leave anything I say won't make a point to you anyway"

"oh I'm glad you noticed, get out!" he said as he pointed his hand to the door.

How can someone be this rude really, he's so annoying.

"by the way, your coffee must be cold by now but who cares, it aligns with somebody's mood no need to heat it."

"are you trying to be funny with me? You think you can make a joke out of this situation?"

Answering to his questions wasn't going to change anything so I rolled my eyes.

"I still don't know why they allowed you to come here in the first place, what are you standing there for?! Go on get out! Out!"

Before I could shut the door he slammed it right behind me and the loud noise startled me.

At that moment I was just missing grandma and wished I was with her instead of putting up with this rascal's temper, I ran to the garden and let out a soft cry.

I sat in the garden for quite some time then Mrs Park showed up and saw me crying, I quickly wiped my face and she put her hand on my shoulder then asked me what was wrong.

"I hope this doesn't have to do with Chad, he can be rude sometimes"

"no Mrs Park it's not him," I said even though it wasn't true, his attitude was unbearable but that wasn't the only reason I was crying.

"I miss grandma, I miss my friends back home, I miss been there with them."

"I know it's lonely for you to be here, you know what? How bout we go out? I can show you some places in town and hopefully it can cheer you up"

I just nodded my head and got up, at that moment I just needed something to get my mind off the pain.

I told mom about what was going on and she was excited for me, Mrs Park is such an amazing woman and I'm glad she showed up at the right time.
Spending the rest of the day with her was refreshing, I discovered beautiful places in Houston that I never knew about, she bought a few clothes for me and even though I'm not used to someone spending money on me I was happy that she did, after that we went to a spa then  had our nails done. I've never had an experience like this but it was so awesome later on we went to this extravagant restaurant and I was amazed by the food we were served. So this is how rich people live? I thought to myself.
After spending a lot of time in the city we went back home and even though I was happy to see my mum I wasn't looking forward to running into Chad, his attitude is so unbearable I didn't want it to ruin my mood.

A few weeks had passed and I was starting to get adapted to the place and the new lifestyle, since my last conversation with Chad I'd been avoiding him even if I saw him from a distance I would go the other direction just to avoid running into him,
Back home I would confront people like him but this is different, I would confront him but I wouldn't want to do anything that would jeopardize my mum's work so I had to stay low-key.

I was in my room then mom and Mrs Park walked in and sat beside me, they were both smiling and I was quite confused about the whole thing. I wonder what they wanted to tell me *I thought to myself *

"honey Mrs Park and I have been talking about something for quite sometime now"

Mrs Park then added,

"you've been here for quite some time and I don't think it's fair for you to stay out of school so your mom and I decided to enroll you in school....."

I was happy but also surprised by the news.

"It's a very good school and I'm sure you'll meet a lot of people there and make friends and besides Chad goes to the same school so hopefully he'll help you around with the place or if you'll need anything"

What Chad is at the same school?! Just when I thought I was getting further away from him this had to happen? How would he even help me when all he's been doing is yell at me each time he sees me.

"can't I go to a different school or something"

"honey" mom said as she held my hand trying to stop me from talking.

"it's okay Ellen I know it's because of Chad, my son can be quite unbearable sometimes but it's not like you're going to avoid him forever. Trust me when I say that he's a good person and I feel like this experience will help you two bond and other than that you'll have good education and make friends. Chad's school is one of the best schools here and I would love for you to be there. "

After hearing her say that there was no way of denying her offer, she's been nothing but kind to me and I would be ungrateful if I turned down her offer. So now instead of avoiding Chad I'll be seeing him every second of the day and have to face his unbearable attitude all the time. Can this get any worse than it already is??
