LET KNOW OURSELVES (PART 1)
Sharun and Cathy went to the only coffee shop opened during that time. They sat around a table, ordered tea.

'Why were you here?'  asked Sharun

'Hmm..I was here for sightseeing.' replied Cathy, after thinking for a while.

Sharun chuckled

'You came here for sightseeing all alone and when I saw you, you were walking towards the end of that cliff.' replied Sharun.

Cathy smiled. The waiter brought tea and kept it on their table.

'What about you? Why were you here?'   asked Cathy, taking a sip of tea.

Sharun needed to think of a lie so, he took a sip of the tea. While drinking tea, he was making a perfect lie.

'You lied to me. You didn't tell me the reason why you were here so, I won't tell mine.'  replied Sharun.

Cathy smiled.

The table went silent. They both didn't look at each other for a while. After few minutes, Sharun broke the silence.

'Let's be honest with each other. Let's tell our stories that lead us here.' said Sharun and leaned back to the chair.

He was waiting to listen Cathy's story but, she didn't spoke a word. She remained silent.

'I think...sometimes we need someone to listen to our problems and I'm here to listen to yours.' said Sharun.

Sharun cont'd    'See, if you won't share anything with me, how can I share my story with you?'

Cathy laughed.

'Many times...we want someone to listen to our problems but, can they really understand us?'  Cathy asked.

Sharun exhales.

'I was stuck between my dream life and reality. I wanted to be happy but, when I got stuck between nine to five job, I thought it was the end.'  said Sharun.

'You came here because, your life was same as the others?'  asked Cathy.

'No. There were many small issues  happening with me and I kept them unsolved until they became bigger and heavier.' said Sharun

'What issues?'  asked Cathy.

'That's enough. Tell me about yours.' said Sharun.

'I came here to end it all.' said Cathy.

After hearing this, the smile from Sharun's face was gone.

'I'm having cancer, the result came yesterday. Doctors said there fifty-fifty chances.' said  Cathy.

Sharun knew something was wrong with Cathy but, knowing about cancer, filled tears in his eyes.

'There's chances of your survival and you thought of killing yourself ?' asked Sharun.

'There's a seven lakhs pricetag on my life. And, it's too much for a middle-class family.' said Cathy.

Cathy said in a single breath  'I know, my dad will try his best to save me. He'll borrow money from someone. But, what if I die? All the money he borrowed is wasted. I'm dead and I had put my whole family in a financial crisis and my brother, I destroyed his future. I don't want that to happen.'

' I'm speechless. I don't know what to say. ' replied Sharun.

Sharun cont'd  ' I thought my life was tough. I came here to end my life because, I had everything. '

' If I die, my family will be sad for a while and eventually, they'll be back on track.'  said Cathy.

' But, what if you go for chemo and knock out cancer?'   asked Sharun.

' Cancer is not a disease, it's a ticket to death for the middle class. '   replied Cathy.

' There are many people and groups who could help you with the funds. '  said Sharun.

'There's no one.'  replied Cathy

'I think, I'm really lucky to meet you.'  said Sharun.

'I wish I could say the same.' replied Cathy.

'What do you mean? You are alive because, of me.'   said Sharun.

'I'm not happy to be alive.' replied Cathy .

'Life is all about waiting for our death. And all we have to do is, make those waiting moments memorable so that, one day when death knocks on our door, we'll open it with a big smile on our face.replied Sharun.

Cathy smiled and wiped her tears.

'You write quotes?' asked Cathy.

'Why?' asked Sharun.

'That was a cool thing you said about life.' said Cathy.

'I got one one more, wanna hear?' asked Sharun.

'Sure.'  replied Cathy.

'Two hearts, total strangers with a will to end life, walks down towards the gate of death. But, when they met each other, they shared their stories. And in the end, one found a reason to laugh and the other found a reason to live.' said Sharun.

Cathy smiled.

' It's good ' replied Cathy.

They both laughed.

They finished their tea and left the coffee shop.
