Law of Karma
LAW OF KARMA

During a discussion one devotee of God was proving existence of God & telling about "Law of Karma" which is given in Bhagwatgeeta by lord Krishna.
According to this law- "If you do any bad deeds (sins) in life, youll get punishment for that either immediately or after some period of time in the same or in next life (Rebirth)"
I asked him- "What sin did Nirbhaya & all those innocent girls and women did who were raped?"

"What sin do all those women do who are victims of daily Domestic violence in majority of homes in our male dominating society?"

"What sin do all those innocent children do who are dying due to diarrhea & all such diseases because they don’t have money for medicine (which is worth Rs.5, but is sold 50-70 times costly) and all those innocent children who are dying of malnutrition?"

"What all terrorists did & are doing is it good? May be all those people killed by them have done any sins in their past or current life!"

"Did America do a good thing by killing all those people in just few moments in Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bomb attack? God may have given all those Japanese people the punishment for their sins in just a moment to all the innocent children, young and old males and females and even the plants, trees, animals, birds, insects and what not. And He's still giving punishment to all their descendents with radiation hazards, isn’t it?"

"Before Savitribai Phule's revolution no girl could get education in our country and after her revolution all girls got education facility in their life. Did God suddenly change his plan of not giving education to females?"

"People do female foeticides and kill the girl child right before letting her take birth. Definitely it must be because of that girl's sins in last life (according to Law of Karma). So all those girls and only girls were doing sins in their past life? What sin they must have done that they can't even have right to birth in this world?”

"People gathered in candle march for Nirbhaya. Not only the country but whole world stood on her side. Were all those people fool,as they were standing against God's will."

"Killing progressive reformist Dr. Dabholkar and comrade Pansare was too the God's will, because they were doing sins, isnt it?
We and majority of people are too doing sins by supporting them.
Because definitely God doesnt want anybody doing anything against his will (it will be a sin), isnt it?

On all these questions that Devotee replied-
"See, why all those girls (who were raped, victims of domestic violence, etc) got female gender and not the male gender?
Because this is all predetermined!
Means yes; they all got or are getting punishment by having female gender for their sins because the God wants this only!"

After hearing those nonsense words and seeing his shameless behavior, I wanted to slap him forcefully.
But unfortunately, may be his 'Biased God' doesnt want to give him punishment of his deeds!

I have heard a story about Law of Karma:
Once a butcher was cutting a cow, some people objected on him and strongly opposed him. Then a Brahmin passing by said he is not doing anything wrong. In their past life the butcher was a cow and the cow was the butcher and he killed the cow. So God has given them rebirth in such a way that the cow from past life could take revenge from the butcher.

If this is so, every crime can be explained. Actually there will be no crime. And of course everything is God’s will and his will is always right.

But next problem comes when the bystander from people dont stop the butcher from cutting the cow as seeing the crime happening and not opposing or preventing it is also a crime. (As said in Bhagwatgeeta, Karna from Mahabharata got punishment due to this only)

Means,
God knows everything.
Everything happens with God’s will.
God has given us the free will.
The sins we do will be paid in same or next life (but we dont know if someone is exploiting us is our punishment or his sin).
If a person sees sin happening or someone punishing the other and dont stop it then its also a crime.
Dont you think all these things are contrary to themselves?
This is an absurd cycle of Karma.

Krishna tells Arjuna-
Do your karma and dont expect the reward. If you expect the reward your karma will not be considered for the reward.
The person who does good karma will be taken to heaven after his death and will be freed from death-rebirth cycle. He will get the Moksha.
These two things are also contrary to each other.
And many such self contrary things can be shown in Bhagwatgeeta. (Nicely explained in the book ‘गीतातात्वाज्ञानाची उलटतपासणी’)

Heaven, Hell and the Rebirth

There are concepts like hell and heaven in every religion, but the concept of rebirth is not there in few religions.
So we will discuss the application of Law of Karma with and without rebirth one by one.

Law of Karma in religion with rebirth:
Consider a man who did lot of major sins in his life and so he is taken to hell after death. And God decided not to give him rebirth as a human. So say he has been given rebirth in the form of a pig.
The question arises here is what good deed the pig should do to go in heaven or to have rebirth as human in his next life?

Law of Karma in religion without rebirth:
Now consider another man who did minor sins in his life like stealing pockets, things of people, using abusive words for others etc. Then obviously he will not be taken to heaven but to the hell. And as he has not done any major sins he will not be there permanently in hell. So he will have punishment in hell for whatever period of time. After completing the punishment where he will go? As he has not done any good things so as to take him to the heaven and rebirth is not possible. So what is going to happen with him?

This may come into the mind that law of Karma may motivate people to do good things. But this is not the case. Lets take an example-
An illiterate woman who is victim of daily domestic violence and helpless to do anything else than to accept it as her fate or destiny will remain so, as she will be believing that its the outcome of her sins from past life or so. And thus this concept of law of Karma will destroy the will to fight against the exploitation by the male dominant system.
Similarly the poor people and laborers will remain exploited and victims of the capitalist system by believing that their poverty is the outcome of their sins from past life.
And if it had been motivation for doing good things, the religious people would not have been there in jails.
Thus law of Karma is more of exploitation than motivation for the society.
