Many people believe in the Astrology and insist that it is a science. But actually Astrology is the art of selling dreams.
Everyone likes to dream. We all enjoy them. And also we are curious and expecting about our future. Astrology takes advantage of this only.
People who believe in astrology and the astrologist give following logics to prove how astrology is true-
They say- We all know that moon exerts gravitational pull on earth and we can see this in the form of tidal waves. Similarly moon and other cosmological bodies also affect us or our future.
They show the evidences of prophecy in ancient scriptures, holy books, etc.
Explanation-
Talking about first logic, as moon affects water on earth, it does so equally; affecting the whole water on the earth and not just water from a city or from a country. Similarly if it does affect the people on earth that effect will be global and equal for all people on earth. And will not affect each person differently. This will be the case about all other cosmological bodies also. And hence all people should have same future or so.
We cant believe on any book unless it agrees with our common sense until its proved or experimentally observed and analyzed.
They ask us for the exact time of birth for telling our future or Kundali. They say even a small mistake in noting the time of birth will lead to wrong predictions about the future. But there are many problems in telling the exact time of anything.
First of all which clock you will consider to be perfectly running with time? Everyone has different time in their clock there may be variation of 5-10min in clocks of same region, from same time zone.
There are many time zones in the world. America has different time in their clock when India has different at the same moment. So which is to be considered standard?
And when you will note the time of birth? Birth (Delivery or parturition) of any animal does not take place at any single moment; it takes some period of time which may vary with case to case.
The first cell of any animal is formed by fusion of male and female gametes inside the womb. From that time only the new life starts.
First heart beat takes place at about 21 days of gestation but it is not fixed. Variation of one or two days may be there.
Normally during the delivery, head of the baby comes out of the vaginal introitus (opening) and then after some time trunk, hands and legs come out. In some cases legs come out first (breech). This process of birth normally takes about 1-15min.
Normally baby first takes his first breathe immediately after birth.
So in above conditions when will you record the exact time of birth? In first two situations we can’t even record the time as we don’t know when these events take place inside the womb. And in situations 3 and 4; to what we will call the time of birth?
Similarly we can prove that all the astrology has no logical or scientific base.
But imagine a situation where you know when to say that birth has occurred and you have the standard clock to note the time. Consider 3 pregnant mothers from different socioeconomic classes (one from very poor Muslim family, one from middle class Hindu family and other from rich Christian family) who deliver at the exact same time in delivery room. Will the future of all these babies born be the same- Obviously no. Being a Doctor I know and I have seen 2 or more deliveries occurring at the same time. And one more question pop up in mind is what about the birth time of a baby born with cesarean section? In this case we the doctors decide the time of birth (and so the future?) and then what about the God's predetermined future if doctor is changing the time of birth?
Some also say future depends on the creases on palm. But what about the babies had born without hands (Phecomelia)? Astrologists usually tell us that currently you are in the influence of Saturn, Jupiter is being angry with you and you need to keep it calm by doing this worship or else. But even if the cosmological bodies are influencing every man separately (which is not possible as I explained above) how can someone say that among these 9 planets you are being in influence of this one? For telling that you are in the influence of any one planet you have to remove the effect of others. Then only you can observe the individual effect of each planet on us.
Like this, if we try to apply these scientific logics on astrology it falls outside the frame of science. Moreover to say, Astrologists say- we have 9 planets in solar system as used in astrology.

Amongst them the Sun is not a planet. Rahu and Ketu are names of eclipse and not planet. They have not counted the most important planet in our solar system- the earth. They didnt include Uranus and Neptune in the list as they were not discovered by that time.
We should not get confused between the terms Astrology and Astronomy.
Astrology is not a science. It is the study of movements and relative positions of cosmological bodies interpreted as having an influence on the human affairs and the natural world.
But Astronomy is a science. It is the study of cosmological or celestial bodies.
They match the Kundalis of marrying people so that there should not be any conflict in them, so that they should lead a happy and healthy life together. But what about the marriages which end up in divorce even after matching their Kundalis at the time of marriage? Can they give any guaranty about relationship after matching Kundalis? If not, why people believe and entertain such non sense things? We should understand that before marrying we should match natures, habits, hobbies, goals, thoughts and the compatibility of bride and groom towards each other and most important, whether the boy and girl love each other or not; instead of matching their Kundalis.
It is very sad that most of the Indian people fall prey to such non sense, illogical things just because they don’t apply simple logic or common sense. We have lots of quacks, Astrology TV shows and numerous followers of them and this all is there not for fun or entertainment but due to blind faith.
