He gets into the car and we start to drive to what I assume to be the mall. His words echo through my mind. Would you like to be my girlfriend. I turn to look at him as he navigated the strange town. Butterflies flutter in my stomach as I try to calm myself down. "I believe that id like to get to know you first before you can ask me out. Besides I don't want to seem like a slut at school." I say and he glances over with a questioned expression. Time to explain myself.

"Well story short this girl named Amanda got mad that I was partnered with Evan so she started shit with me. Evan finds her revolting by the way so I made a fake claim to him and threw her fake wig out of the window. Later on I "broke up with him" and he has been pissed off for no reason ever since." I say and Max bursts out laughing. "Youre a keeper, thats why. Also because youre not really his type." He says as we turn into the parking lot. "Yeah he said the same thing, until I took my baggy sweatshirt off and exposed my assets." I say and Max snorts. "That would do it. To tell you the truth you used to be his type. He got burned really bad by a girl at junior prom and he has never been the same since." He says as he hurries over to open my door.

"You need groceries and I need to buy something for a special girl." He says and I felt my stomach drop. So he is taken. As if he had read my mind he laughs. "And that special girl is you. You dont know it yet but youre stuck with me. Consider this our first date and ill buy you ice cream." He says and I brighten up. I adore ice cream.

All in all we spent a total of two hour in the mall as Max helped me shop for food. He then dragged me into the jewelry shop where he bought an expensive set of emeralds adorned with rose gold. "How'd you know I liked emerald green?" I asked as he hooked up the necklace to settle on my collar bone. It was the letters M and A in rose gold entwined in an emerald butterfly. It was beautiful and entitled him to a kiss on the cheek that made him blush. I put on the matching butterfly earrings, bracelet and he slipped on the ring. Next was ice cream and we walked hand in hand into the food court where I saw the most disgusting thing ever. Evan was there with his tongue down, guess who, Amanda's throat. He must be trying to make me jealous but it wasn't working. Max and I both rolled our eyes and ordered out ice cream. Turns out we like the same brand, Rocky Road. We went and sat down at a table and dug in. Max made me laugh when he got some ice cream on his nose. I was busy cleaning it off for him when Evan and Amanda walked up, hand in hand.

"You move fast, slut." Amanda remarked, making Max stand up. "If anyone here is the slut it's you Amanda. Leave her alone before she snatches that fake hair off again." He says. The people sitting around us burst out laughing, causing Amandas face to turn red. I turn to look at Evan and hes staring down at the necklace. "Do you happen to need anything or did you just want to talk to Max?" I ask him and he glares at me. "No what I wanted to say is that you need to appologize to my girlfriend for embarrasing her. No new homeless slut gets to walk into that school and embarrass her just because she's jealous that no one wants her skanky ass." Evan remarks.

I stand up, mystified that he would say something like that. "Evan what is your problem? Why are you saying these things to me?" I ask him and he steps forward. "No one cares." He says and they walk away, leaving Max and I standing there. He walks over and wraps his arms around me. It was comforting and it calmed me down a little. "Lets go. He says as tears slowly start to etch their way down my face.

I find Evan in my mind. "Don't ever talk to me again. All you are is a worthless wanna be with a last name. Sticking your tongue down someones throats isn't going to change that." I pause, calming myself down as the anger settles in. "I stuck up for you and you toss it away as if I'm just a piece of trash. Damn you Evan Trudeau. Dont ever speak to me again unless its to apologize. Compared to me, you're the trash."

Max and I walk away, the feeling of dread settled into my gut. This wasnt over. Max drove me back to my house and helped me tote the groceries in. "I appologize in advance for Evan. Hes usually not that bad. I imagine it'll be worse tomorrow at school. By the way ill be there." He says with a wink. "Make sure you sit next to me. Evan sits in front of me." I say as he wraps me up into a hug. "No problem. Dont forget you can talk to me whenever you like, no matter the time of day. Dont stare into my window too much." He says as he walks out the door and makes he way over to his house.

Ugh. Tomorrow. I make a sandwich and hop into bed after telling Max good night. The lights in Evans room glow through my window as I fall asleep.
