Andrew sat hopelessly in his desk in English 12 trying to focus on the lesson plan. But a painful headache had other plans for him. It didn't help that he stayed up late watching YouTube.  He couldn't help it though with all new theories about the flu and other diseases being modified for warfare. Since wars faught by soldiers were outdated ever since nukes were a thing. And rising tensions between nations have increased with resources becoming more and more scarce.

"Andrew?" Mrs. Abigail said

"huh" Andrew said snapping to attention

"Are you all right Andrew? " she said raising a eyebrow in curiosity.

"Uh yeah I just a headache, but I'm fine" Andrew said rubbing his forehead.

"well if its affecting on of my top students like that,  I think your not fine" she said with a chuckle.

"alright you won me over" Andrew said already packing his bag. He  was so grateful for Mrs. Abigail.

"see you on Monday Mrs. A" Andrew said with a wave.

she in return smiled and contiued with the lesson on science fiction. Andrew left the classroom and began heading to the office to leave. The school Hall was covered in Christmas  decorations since winter break was in two weeks . When Jade one of Andrews friends caught up to him.  He knew here since freshmen when they had health together.  They defiantly made the class more intresting with the non stop laughter and smart ass coments.

"hey you are you going home sick too? " she said with a smile

"nah bad headache why are a lot kids going home? " he said now worried the office workers will think he is faking it.

"Apparently a lot of kids are going home,  some kind of flu is going around." she said more serious then usually.

"well it is flu season so that does make sense" Andrew said sarcastically with a grin.

"I see you can still be a jerk even when a headache is shaking up your brain" she said while laughing and giving him a  slight push.

They laughed and talked together as they headed up to the office.

"so why are you going to the office J another petition to bring your pet to school day" Andrew said knowing his animal loving friend would die for anything furry.

"actually no" she said excitedly " I'm finalizing my job permint to intern at the hospital"

"nice" he said knowing she would be great at it "looks like your going to be busy" he said approaching the office

kids were piling out the door to go home and were either wheezing or coughing. she rolled her eyes but he knew she thought it was funny.

"Alright I have to go to admin to finish this up but I'll see Monday" she said as she pulled out a huge packet.

"I'll see later" he grinned and went to the health office.

It was even more crowded then it looked kids were in every corner. Andrew put his shirt over his mouth not wanting to be bored but also not wanting to be sick he approved the nurse holding a clipboard.  she was frankly writing things down.  she looked up at him with piercing blue eyes and a face mask.

" you sick too " she said it was slightly muffled by the mask.

"No killer headache" Andrew said through his shirt not wanting to lower it.

"alright we are swamped as you see, you are free to go as long as your not sick" she said still frantically writing things down.

Andrew didn't question it as long as he was able to get home.  he headed out the office toward his car. There was already light snow on the ground and clouds up above had plans to add some more. His used Honda was the prettiest but it was reliable.  He through he bag in and started the engine. As he began leaving the parking lot he notice the long line of cars.  It must had been parents trying to receive there kids. There cars were running to stay warm and each car either had Christmas music or hot drink in hand.  He wandered why secrutiy wouldn't let them through. He mindless drove home listening to alt rock on the radio.  He just happy he could finally have Advil and end his suffering.  He pulled in the drive way and left his backpack. he'll get it tomorrow his head couldn't think. He opened the door to the T.v. blasting the news and his mom gawking at the t.v.
