Je sentais la souffrance, la tristesse et le désespoir arriver sourdement. Assise, bouleversée, sur le lit, tenant encore la main d'oncle Kern, j'hurlais dans ma tête. Il était mort. Mort ! C'est bon, elle arrivait, elle était là, la douleur, le vide au cœur qui suit toujours la mort. L'impression que tout s'est effondré, tout l'univers. Papa, maman, oncle Kern... Qui encore ? Quelle est la prochaine personne que j'aimais qui mourra ? Je fis donc ce que j'avais déjà fait lors du décès de mes parents : me protéger. Je ne pleurais pas.
