First Day Back
Ella Parker walked to school that chilly October morning. She was getting ready to turn 18 years old in six days and her sister was going to get married in November on the 1st which was exciting. Ella never really thought that her sister would get married until she was well in her early thirties. The thought of her actually waiting to get married would be ridiculous, but still, she never thought it would be so fast and her sister just turned 26 years old about a month ago. Ella wasn’t one to judge people by their decisions or their actions, but she saw some mistakes and that she wished that people could see the mistakes that they do but maybe that wasn’t the greatest achievement.

Ella walked through the doors of Dilly High School. People stared at her as she walked to her locker. She wore a white dress button up shirt with black skinny jeans and she wore black converse. Her hair was long and she was getting it cut on her eighteenth birthday. She was going for a shaved haircut but decided not too.

‘Maybe shaggy hair would do though’ she thought. She felt someone tap her on the shoulder and she turned around and was met with a girl with big round eyes that were green and blue. Her hair was black and it was long all the way down to her hips. She was a petite girl, a freshman no doubt, but either way she had to tap on the other girl’s shoulder for a reason right?

“What do you want?” Ella spoke to the petite girl in front of her. She saw the girl shake a little and she almost wanted to laugh, but she didn’t.

“Can you show me where room 123 is?” the girl asked timidly. Ella looked at the girl with an annoyed face.

“Yeah, sure that’s my first class anyway." the older girl replied nonchalantly. Ella gave the girl a once over one more time. She wore a light yellow sundress that came up to her mid thigh and she wore a white strapped sandals. The girl was pretty, but Ella wasn’t ready for a relationship after what happened 3 years ago and probably wouldn’t be for a few more years. Ella pulled out her history book and history notebook. The older girl looked at the freshman that was waiting patiently for her to get her things when she was done getting the things the shorter girl smiled at her.

“Are you a Senior?” the freshman asked questions. Ella looked at for a little bit and sighed.

“Yeah, I’m senior and you must be fresh.” she deadpanned. The girl nodded her head and did a fist pump in the air.

“That’s the truth! I’m proud flesh! Fresh meat for the softies and seniors!” she squealed out. She bounced a little bit and smiled big at the senior. The girl squeaked when an arm circled around her waist. That arm just happened to belong to a boy that Ella’s never seen before.

“James let go of me!” the girl next to Ella yelled a little at the boy. Ella looked at the boy named James. He was okay looking, he had blond hair and light caramel eyes, of course, a crooked grin on his face.

“Oh come one Em you know you love me! I’m your best friend after all he preached. She laughed and shook her head a little. “Hey Em! Whose this?” he asked while pointing at Ella.

“Oh! She’s a senior that’s helping me too class the girl replied. She smiled when she said it, but still, I,t was kind of awkward in a way but it wasn’t that bad. The boy smiled at the girl. “Oh yeah how is your boyfriend doing? I haven’t seen him lately, but I just wanted to  say that I miss that big butthole!”

“Haha! Yeah, h,e misses you too and he’s doing good. He’s up in Canada at the moment, at a band thing the boy replied. Ella figured out that the boy was gay from the way the girl next to her asked about his boyfriend.

“Well, tell him the next time he comes down, I want him to come and say hi to me. Oh, and what’s your first-period class?” she mumbled out. The boy smiled big at the girl.

“I’m off to room 134! What about you Em?” the boy asked. Ella stood awkwardly listening to them have their conversation.

“Room 123! History with Mr. Riley and he’s single right? He’s really young too and good looking! James I, bet you can hop on that gravy train she gushed out. The boy blushed like a tomato and it was pretty funny. The freshmen started laughing together and Ella just looked at them.

“Well, I’ll see you both later! Have a wonderful day Em!” the boy shouted while running to his next class. Ella sighed and rubbed her temples for relief, but it didn’t happen. The freshman that was nicknamed Em grabbed Ella’s hand and rushed them both to class.

Ella took her sit in the back of the classroom and sighed for the tenth time in one day, she looked up and saw the freshman that she helped get here. She was new and Mr. Riley made all the freshmen introduce themselves.

“My name’s Emma McGree and I’m from Ireland,”, Emma muttered to the class and blushed a little bit. Ella could tell that there were only five freshmen in this class and that most of this class were seniors. All the senior men looked at the petite girl grinned except for the gay ones, which is perfectly fine, because the way that they were staring at her was disgusting, even Mr. Riley the old man that he may be looked disgusted at his male students.

“Emma, I want you to sit in front of Ella Parker.” he gestured towards the empty sit in front of the girl that help Emma get here in the first place. Emma walked down the aisle to get to her sit, she was frowning while some of the male students, mainly Thomas Crawly was staring at her back in a lustful way. The girl got to her sit and sat down quickly trying to hide from the prying eyes, that were practically stripping off her clothing.

“Hey. Don’t worry about those pricks that can’t do anything to you." Ella whispered to the girl that sat in front of her. The turned around and looked at Ella with a worried look. Ella smiled and started flexing her muscles, Ella started looking smug. “This big guns will protect you p, pretty lady!” Ella assured her. The girl smiled at her and giggled.

“You act like my friend James you know that.”,she stated while giggling a little more. Mr. Riley looked up from his desk and saw Ella and Emma getting along like old friends. He smiled big, that’s what he wanted, he liked that little petite girl with the long black hair. She was going to do fine in this class as long as she was sitting with Ella. Mr. Riley looked out for his little freshmen even though they probably didn’t notice but he knew what groups to put them in and he knew what people to put them with when he assigned projects, it was just one of his sixth sense kind of thing.
