Emma glanced around the private room of the restaurant she was brought into.

"Really nice to be rich." She said.

"You could be if you wanted."

"Mr Hughes... Nothing against you or your person but what you want me to do isn't possible." Emma said going straight to the point. Yes she was meeting with the Matt Hughes.

Hughes screamed power from the minute you saw him. Emma guessed it was a requirement for all involved in the underworld. The ML too gave off this aura of power. Emma hated this feeling of having to put her life in control of a man or she would try it out with Hughes.

He had grey stormy eyes, a chilled jaw and defined eyebrows. He wasn't brawny by any means, yet the muscles were there. What really unsettled Emma were his eyes. They were so familiar like she had always know him, but she could not put her fingers on it. Those eyes stared at her and reflected an unbridled desire.

"Kira we both know it's for our best interest if we work together. I get to keep my business and you get to save your friend." Hughes said.

"You should know better than that."

"Ah yes you don't really care about her your real aim is Miss Scott."

"It's a pity."

"What is?"

"I thought you were smarter than this."

"What do you mean?"

"It was nice meeting you. I just wanted you to know that I don't want your help."  Emma said and stood up. She put her hat back on as she left. If she had turned back she would have noticed the slight widening of Hughes eyes as she left.

"So tell me why did you have to meet her?" A voice said as its owner slid into the chair Emma was previously occupying.

"You didn't see the message she left me I reckon." Hughes replied, taking a casual recline on the chair as opposed go the aggressive stance he had while Emma was in the room.

"Didn't she just write a proverb? What was it again?"

"It wasn't a proverb you dumb ass. It was only one word. 'Hello'"

"So?"

"Why are you so stupid? That is why you are being fooled by that woman."

"I am not being fooled Erika is a lovely woman." Yes this was the second male lead. Surprisingly Xander Alfonso, the so called best friend of the ML. Xander had by chance met Erika on one of his travels. He had fallen in love immediately but was aware of her back story he was also aware that her daughter was Vicente's. But he hadn't told Vicente anything because he wanted Erika to accept him.

However the woman in question was giving him mixed signals. On the surface it seemed Erika was worried for her daughter but Hughes knew she was waiting for Vicente to find her. How could she not be aware that he was searching for her.

Hughes sighed both men were stupid for a woman. He would never allow a woman to twirl him round her finger like these two.

Meanwhile Emma let out a breathe of relief as she got to her apartment safely. She really had no people skills. Hughes had unnerved her. Even going against the ML hadn't left her this terrified. Especially his eyes. Those eyes were so familiar and when she stared at them she wanted to reach out to the owner of the eyes and sob in his arms.

Emma didn't understand why she felt this way. She never had such a reaction when meeting other people. The worst part of it all was that she knew it wasn't real.

As Emma thought over her plans, a shrill sound of ringing broke through her reverie. It was an old model flip phone that Emma had left of Kira's belongings so the female lead could contact her.

"Erika how are you?" Emma said in a light tone imitating the intimate greeting Kira would give Erika whenever she called.

"I'm fine..." There was silence.

"How is Desiree?"

"She is doing okay. I hope Vicente hasn't been giving you problems."

"Not at all I gold him off last time he came over. He... Vicente he wanted to seduce me to get to you. I'm not sure he really loves you. I got to the city and he had a fiancee. "

"What? Fiancee? When?"

"It appears that they have been engaged to marry from birth. The woman thought Vicente was after me so she told me off."

"I'd that so?" A chill crept into Erika's voice.

"Erika take care of yourself Vicente isn't worth it."

"Thank you Kira you're a good friend."

"I have to go I've got work now."

"okay bye."
