Eric's games
Valentine
Ann had been working on the Eric James case for almost two months. He played mind games with her calling Ann after he killed his victims as fast as the phone calls began; they ended Ann had no way of finding Eric since he never gave her information about himself he would mail her letters of what he would do to his next victim. Ann knew when Eric was 17 he killed his parents. He was held for questioning but after an 8-month investigation no one could find evidence linking Eric to his parent's death so the case went cold and Eric walked free. Then when he was 20 he killed his first victim Darlene, a wealthy young woman who was skinny with blond hair and blue eyes. Ann was pretty sure that Eric had also killed Twenty Year Old Betty Jacobs but she had no proof. Eric never admitted to killing these people. Ann was cleaning up the spilled coffee when a street woman by the name of Daisy may came running into the police department asking to speak to a woman police officer. Everybody in the police station knew Daisy May; she always came in with some wild tale about how she saw little green men stealing her liquor and how she said people were mistreating her. Ann heard  Daisy May asking for a policewoman and thought that she might be able to help her. Ann finished cleaning up the spilled coffee and walked over to the front desk where Daisy may was, and tried to calm her down. "Hello, my name is Ann. How can I help you Ann asked as she studied Daisy May. Daisy May tried to finish her sentence, but a bottle of whiskey, which was sitting on top of a file cabinet caught her eye. Daisy May began licking her lips and her eyes became wide with delight. Ann brought Daisy May to her desk and managed to sit her down. "I’ll tell you everything I know, but only if I get that liquor Daisy May blurted out rubbing her hands on her knees. Ann smiled and opened her bottom desk drawer and took out half an empty bottle of dry whiskey. "Here I'll give you this drink," Ann said, handing the whiskey over to Daisy May, she grabbed the bottle and looked around frantically as if someone was going to take her liquor away from her. "You cops carry liquor in your desks?, I should come here more often. Daisy May blurted out laughing as she took a long gulp of her dry whiskey. "No, the only cop that carries liquor is me," Ann added laughing. "Why don't you tell me what's on your mind? '' Ann asked again, taking a seat besides Daisy May. Daisy May lend over towards Ann the liquor on her breath and the smell of dirty skin was overpowering "I was there I saw Daisy May said almost whispering as she looked around nervously "Saw what Daisy? Ann inquired while studying Daisy May's face. "You know the guy who kidnapped that girl Daisy May said, taking another long sip of her Whiskey. "I saw him dragging her into his car and speeding off, he almost ran me over, but I showed him, I smashed my liquor bottle on the back of his car Daisy May said again holding shaking her bottle at Ann frantically Ann had thought that maybe Daisy May had seen Eric Kidnap Sara Walker but Ann was not sure Daisy May was telling the truth. " What did this man look like Ann asked carefully so that Daisy May would not run off " He was a big man I saw him, smothering her with a cloth, I saw Daisy May shouted on aware of how loud she had gotten. The more Ann listened to Daisy May she knew she had seen more than she was telling and did not want to push Daisy May into telling her more in fear that she might not want to come back and talk to her again. Ann was writing what Daisy May had told her into a notepad when the phone on Ann's desk began to ring "Hello stone creek police" Ann was cut off by a faint laugh over the other end of the phone. Ann keep the phone to her ear she knew it was  Eric

He whispered into the phone

"I'm watching her right now she is beautiful just my type Eric said, laughing "Do you think you can save this one? I will give you a clue to where she lives" Eric said laughing chewing on a piece of gum and watching this poor woman from his beaten up black Firebird. Ann began writing down the street name, and the apartment number was this young woman Eric's next victim was Eric giving her the wrong information., That was Eric's Game making sure you got the wrong information so that you would end up going on a wild goose chase just to find where his next victim was before he got to her. Then, before Eric hung up he laughed and whispered "I see you are talking to my little friend who is sitting beside you if she talks anymore to you I’ll kill her!" Eric said laughing Ann was shocked how could Eric see her did he have a spy working in the police department or did he have a hidden camera watching Ann's every move. Eric hung up the phone Ann could hear the long hum on the other end of the phone ringing over and over again in her mind Ann hung up the phone and told Daisy May that she would have to talk to her again and walked Daisy May to the front door of the police station. " Thanks for coming in Daisy May I, ll get back to you about what we talk about." Ann said, trying not to let her emotions show. " but what about what I saw? I saw him!" Daisy May said, waving her hands in the air like a madwoman and spilling drops of her whiskey all over the front steps. " I'm sorry Daisy May you have to go." Ann said, hurrying back to her desk " you pigs are no good for nothing! You do not even give me good whiskey." Daisy May said, shouting at Ann and almost losing her balance and stumbling her way down the police steps. "Ann in my office now." Captain Michael Turner yelled out across the police room Ann walked into Captain turner's office and Michaels slammed the door behind Ann as she turned to face him. "Ann what are you doing? I saw you giving that street woman liquor from your desk, what are you thinking?" Michael yelled, his voice echoing off the lime-coloured walls. "I’m sorry Michael, I should not have given her the whiskey," Ann said as she swallowed hard "It's just that she knew something about this guy Eric James and I thought that the liquor would make her talk," she said again

"Ha the same Eric James you claimed killed his parents and those two young women." Michael yelled out again losing his patience "Eric James killed these people Michael why don't you believe me." Ann said, feeling tears flowing down her cheeks. "You're a drunk Ann! you have been using Eric James as a way of improving your job, the only reason I keep you on this force is that you are my ex-wife and I would hate to see you on the streets with nothing." Captain Turner said, looking at Ann with shame and giving her a look of discussed Ann felt the tears flow down her milky white cheeks. And took off her police badge "Michael I used to be a drunk, you hate me for what I have become you will not even let me see our daughter. I cannot do this anymore, you do not believe me so I will catch Eric James with or without your help!" Ann yelled out crying, throwing her Badge on Michael's desk. Ann walked out of Michael's office and went looking for Eric's next victim. Michael threw himself in his chair placing his hands on his head, he loved Ann dearly but her self destructive behaviour became too much during their marriage he would find himself staying late at work so he would not have to worry about what he was coming home to. Then when Nikki came along he worried about Ann's drinking when she was alone with the baby. She was even suspended for a month because she had shown up for work drunk. He hated what she had become and couldn't really trust her. in some ways he wished he could have fired her. But he always felt guilty for taking Nikki away from her

Ann walked down the street with tears flowing down her cheeks. She had to pull herself together. She had a street name and an address even though Eric was probably playing mind games with her she needed to check it out, what if he really found another victim. Ann walked to her old beaten up intrepid and drove towards East York st. Coming up to East york st the houses looked old and beaten up the lawns were very small and not well taken care of. The area remained Ann of skid row, it was a very Eerie place. Ann arrived at the Address

1582 the house looked like it was all boarded up. There were broken boards pinned up against the windows and the front door looked to have a big lock on it. Ann parked her car and waited a few seconds before getting out of the car. She walked towards the front door of the house. The grass was tall and it looked like it hadn't been cut for awhile, there was a small   mailbox beside the front step and an envelope was sticking half way out. Ann saw the envelope had her name on it Written in big letters. Ann looked around and she tried to knock at the front door but she knew by the look of things that the house hadn't been lived in for a while. Ann walked back to her car holding the envelope that had her name on it. Ann sat in her car and she started to open the envelope there was a letter inside folded neatly in half. Unfolded the letter and started to read.  " hello again, Dear Ann. Thank you for playing this game with me. I know I sent you on a wild goose chase but do you think you can find me this time. Do think you can save my next beautiful victim before I sacrifice her. Times ticking Ann Valentine's day is almost here"

Ann hit her hand on the steering wheel. She placed the letter back in the envelope and placed it in her glove compartment. She should show this to Mike but what good would that do if she needed to solve this before it was too late. It was getting late Ann was going to go home but then she thought Maybe she should go back to the police station and study the evidence files on Eric Jame's again.
