     "Family or friend?"

     "...Family," I lie.

The nurse leads me through the warehouse, weaving around each mat on the floor.

"Please hurry," I murmur. I'm not sure if the nurse heard me.

Confirming my suspicions, he doesn't answer and doesn't speed up.

He nears a mat against the wall where she lies.

The nurse, whose name I did not bother to ask, walks away.

I kneel beside Jane, gently brushing her pale skin and long red hair.

"Ja- Jane, no, Jane..." I gasp.

At least she's alive, at least she's alive, at least she's alive.

     She's alive.

I love her, she can't be gone, please let her come back.

Her face is even more pale than usual. She is covered in new wounds, similar to lightning, and they will definitely become pronounced scars.

     She was electrocuted by him.

Her clothing is torn, exposing more scars on her arms, legs, and stomach. Her hair puffs out like a cloud.

"I swear to you, I will kill him. I will kill Finnian." I growl.

P.O.V.- Jane

"My- My name is J- Jane Steele. I'm twen- I'm twenty-one," I gasp. "My name- the name is- my name is Jane! " I burst into tears seeing my own mangled body before me.

The repetition helps me calm down.

It helps me calm down it helps me it helps me calm down help me.

I lay on the ground next to my coma-ridden body, hyperventilating.

     "Ja- Jane, no, Jane."

I soar upwards and am on my feet before I know it despite the quickening of my brain and its panic.

I stare at him in horror and fascination. He's alive.

     He's alive.

     He's terrified.

His brown, greasy hair covers part of his face and his eyes water as he looks down at my body. His skin is almost as pale as mine due to his guilt and fear.

I fall to the ground and reach out to grasp his hand and feel a tingling sensation as my fingers pass through his own instead of flesh. Another tear falls down my face as my hand retreats from his.

Suddenly, I hear a gun shot, and he falls over.

     "No!" I shriek.

I crawl across the ground to him and then realize that there is nothing I can do.

"No- No, don't go. Don't leave me."

The back of his head is covered in blood.

Finnian stands behind me, staring directly at me.

     Not my body. Me.

I swing my arm out to punch him and my trembling fist collides with his jaw, but it barely moves him.

     "You hypocrital  piece of-"

He holds a gun to my face. I feel my eyes cross slightly as I look down the barrel.

He smirks. "Thought you could escape, my pet?"

I clench my jaw. "Take care of him and I will-" I sigh in remorse and resolution, "I'll do what you want."

     "Good enough," He hisses.

I look down at the Healer tending to Magnuson's head. His head seals as if it's the tides of the Red Sea.

Then I look at Finnian right in his black eyes. "Good enough," I murmur.
