Crows And Crystals
“Y-You'll help me? Both of you? ” The mysterious girl asked looking back and forth between the two teenagers, as her long violet hair and dark brown robes' hood swayed due to the slight breeze. "Of course, we already said we'd help you so let's get on with it!" Erin said as he held out his hand to her. “Uhm… T-Thank you…” She replied timidly with a slight stutter. "So I'm Alisha and this is Erin." Alisha introduced herself and her new acquaintance, as she pointed towards him. “I'm Adelina. Adelina Tenzel! ” She said with a smile, that had a hint of sadness in it. “So Adelina… Did you see anyone that looked .. uhm… suspicious?” Alisha asked as she carefully chose the words she used. “Yeah I did… But he wore a mask and a hood so I couldn't make out any of his features.” Adelina replied as she looked down at her feet. “Figures ..” Erin whispered letting out a sigh. "Did you notice where he might have went?" Alisha pressed on with the questions. “I don't think so… I mean… He fled through the rooftops…” The young girl replied once again disappointed at herself, as her honey-colored eyes became almost tearful. “Don't worry. We'll find your sister. ” Erin said reassuringly glancing at her with his own pair of dazzling eyes. "Thank you." She said sincerely clasping her hands together. “Well since we don't have any leads-“ “THAT'S HIM!” Adelina cut out Alisha's sentence as she pointed a finger at an ominous looking figure dashing down the street. "Stay here!" Erin shouted to both of them as he took off like a spring, chasing down the hooded man. "Stop running or you'll get hurt!" The young man threatened the man he was chasing in an attempt to make him stop. The mysterious figure took a turn in an alley and in one swift movement he was already at the top of the building. "KARMA!" Erin called out to his spirit, making a huge leap that landed him on the top of the same building. "Where the hell did he go ?!" The young man exclaimed as the mysterious figure was nowhere in sight. Erin, visibly disappointed clenched his fist and looked down at his feet in frustration. But, all hope was not lost as he noticed a big green crystal lying next to his feet. “He must have dropped this ...” He voiced as he picked up the crystal, that was 2 times the size of his palm, and examined it with his eyes. ”The young man exclaimed as the mysterious figure was nowhere in sight. "Erin!" Alisha shouted and waved at the young man across the street. “What happened? You didn't catch him? " The young girl asked looking somewhat disappointed. “No I didn't. But he dropped this so I guess we're not completely at loss here. ” Erin answered as he held out the big green crystal to her. "What is this?" Adelina asked looking at the magic item in confusion. “Come on miss . We're waiting. ” The young man sarcastically said. "First of all I never said I know everything about magic, secondly I wouldn't tell YOU with that attitude, even if I knew!" Alisha replied as she finished her sentence with an irritated “Hmph!” “Maybe we should ask around in some shop… Is there a magical item shop around here ??” The young girl asked as she looked around. “There is actually…” Erin replied briefly as he scratched his chin. “Yeah there's Alfred's Shop. It's just down the street. ” Adelina quickly gave the much needed answer and the three teenagers made their way towards the shop, hoping to find some answers.

"This is the place." Adelina reassured her companions as they stood in front of the big wooden door. Erin nodded and took the first step forward, as he pushed the door open to reveal quite a stuffed shop, that had all kinds of magical items in it. "I'm closing up shop soon so make it quick." The hoarse voice of a man was heard as soon as the three teenagers stepped inside his workspace. But, to their surprise the voice came from behind the counter, although no one could be seen there. “Oh, it's just a bunch of a kids...” The salesman muttered as he stood up from where he was supposedly kneeling. “That must me Alfred…” the three teenagers thought to themselves. He could be described as a middle aged man with a shaved clean head and a thin black goatee. “Kids!?" Alisha exclaimed angrily but Erin cut off her comment “We just wanted to ask if you knew anything about this item…” he asked as he handed the crystal to the man behind the counter. “Oh…” The man let out a surprised remark that matched his puzzled expression. “This is an isolation crystal. It is used to withhold magic inside of it, like a spell. But it's completely empty and blank when bought. That crystal has most likely been used ... ”He explained as he examined it with a circular piece of glass in front of his face. “Well that doesn't help much ...” The young man replied as he looked deep in thought. “What if you open it for us so we can see what's inside? That might help. " Alisha asked gently. "No can do missy ... Only the user can undo that binding spell." The man behind the counter answered as he had his eyes focused on the item at hand. “Do you sell items like these? Is it possible that you know who bought this?" Adelina asked, joining in the conversation herself. “Even if I knew I wouldn't tell you...” He muttered to himself in a very low voice. "What was that?" Erin quickly said in an irritated tone having caught on to what the salesman just said. "I said that I don't know!" He hastily replied as he through his hands in the air, in the form of surrender. "Cut the crap, I heard you the first time!" The young man, visibly irritated, grabbed him from the collar and pushed him slightly over his counter. "Erin what do you think you're doing ?!" Alisha quickly asked in a scolding kind of tone. “Didn't you hear what he said? He clearly stated that he won't tell us a thing regardless of what he knows! And that only means one thing… ”Two gasps instantly escaped the two girls' mouth as soon as Erin finished his sentence. “He clearly knows more than he lets on!” The young man came to the most logical conclusion. "II can't tell you anything ..!" The man that was threatened replied with a tone of unease in his voice and expression. “What do you mean you can't ?! People's lives are on the line here! " Erin said as he got angrier with every reply he got. “My sister was taken from me! Please…”Adelina voiced with her patience completely worn out. "W-What do you mean ..?" Alfred replied with a question himself, anxiety and confusion etched around his face. “This crystal was an item that initially belonged to a criminal, responsible for the kidnappings of young women, including her sister.” Alisha explained as she etched closer to the salesman herself. "W-What ..?" The man let out a word that best described his thoughts. The grown's man gaze wandered about the room when it fell right on top of Erin's flaming gaze, that indicated there was no clearly no way out of this for him. "Okay okay ... I" ll tell you what I know. " The salesman obliged and the young man released him of his grip, after locking eyes with Alisha who gradually nodded in approval. “Almost a week ago a mysterious man wearing a cloak and a mask that resembled a crow came over me shop and wanted to buy 10 of these crystals. Of course, I sold 'em to him and when I asked his name as I was about to write down the purchase he only said “Crow” and left without leaving a trace of him behind. ” At last he explained. “Well that does sound shady enough…” The young princess pointed out while deep in thought. “You sure you wanna pursue this any further kids? I mean you've done enough finding that crystal and its connection to someone suspicious. Maybe you should let 'em grownups take over from here.” The shopkeeper suggested, hoping they would heed his warning. "Age has nothing to do with it." Erin threw back without hesitation. "As much as I appreciate the warning mister, you know nothing about us." Alisha said, in the same wavelength as the young man. Adelina enthusiastically nodded her head in agreement and the three teenagers turned to leave. "Wait!" The grown man shouted after them before they could exit his space. “Maybe you wanna look into The Black Griffon Pub. There may be someone there that knows more than I do. Tell the shopkeeper Alfred sent you. ” He continued, handing them their next lead. “It's at the northeast edge of town a few meters away from the gate. Oh and it's also a night pub so don't go round noon 'cause you won't find anyone.” Lastly, Alfred said gaving them accurate directions. “Thank you!” Adelina said with a smile while the two remaining teenagers grinned in the same fashion.

As soon as the three teenagers had stepped out of the shop, their next step was clear to everyone. “Well… he said at the northeast edge of town so we're heading this way…” Erin spoke up first, pointing in a direction to his right. “Wait… It's getting kinda late so I think we should call it a day…” Adelina expressed her opinion while nervously fidgeting with her fingers. “… I mean it will be really difficult trying to ask the shopkeeper questions while work is at full swing…” She continued explaining her valid reasoning. “She has a point… What if we gather here tomorrow early morning while they are still closing up shop?” Alisha agreed and inquired right after. "Sounds fair I guess." The young man said, as he agreed reluctantly. “Well then it's settled. We meet here tomorrow, at 6 AM! ”The young princess announced as the three of them were ready to part ways for the night. Adelina and Erin nodded in agreement to her suggestion and the meeting was set in stone. “See you tomorrow...” Was the phrase on everyone's lips as each of them took their respective route back home. Or someplace as close as possible to being called home.
