Chapter 1
"Throw the ball." Smere shouted, his hands cupped by his mouths.

I looked up, shocked from my dazed day dreaming. I hate sports, Smere dragged me out to this lame ass baseball field, says he is training for the major league, yeah right. The only major league he will ever be in is the fantasy type, maybe.

Smere is standing at the home plate, with a baseball bat in hand ready to swing. His sandy blonde hair tucked underneath a backwards baseball cap. His dark eyes squinting in the summer sun. He is slightly bent over in a squat; his knees show through the large holes in his blue jeans.

He has a two-tone black and white long sleeved shirt on, covered in dirt from practicing sliding to bases. I don't know why he has this sudden urge to play baseball, the dude has never played a day in his life, besides video games that is. As for me, I really haven't even thrown a baseball. The idea alone of sports makes me feel icky, I don't like them at all.

personally, I would prefer chilling at home watching a movie or something with my girlfriend. I'm not much for outdoor crap, I'm always in a constant state of paranoia. I always have that feeling something bad is going to happen or that someone is out to get me. Trouble is, I'm often not wrong. People in this city aren't the friendliest, there is a lot of criminals just waiting to do something to someone.

I would just prefer that someone to not be me. Not that I care I hide in my house Anyway, I'm not very social as is. If it weren't for Smere I'd never come out. My girlfriend Anna enables me further, she doesn't care to go out much either, so we work well together. bound by our own paranoia, joined together in our fears of the unknown.

Smere sister Jessica tagged along with us, she is sitting behind Smere in the bleachers, cheering him on. Jessica is best friend with Anna, just the same as Smere is to me, they like to force us out in the world, sometims I really hate them for it. But I digress.

I gave my arm a jerk throwing the ball to Smere, the ball flies through the ass half assed over to him, he swings missing the ball enterly. It bounces off the ground and rolls over by Jessica. She hops off the bleachers, picking the ball up, she walk it over to Smere.

"Maybe it's not in the cards for me." Smere says, dropping the bat on the ground with a shrug.

Jessica smiles at him, they are practically twins. They have the same hair and yes color, and nearly the exact taste in clothing. Both with the same holes in their jeans, even similar shirts, kind of odd to see. The only real difference, besides gender that is, is that her hair drapes halfway down her back, flowing with the curve of her spine.

Back before I was dating Anna, I always thought Jessica had a thing for me, that thought quickly ended after I learned she plays for the other team so to speak. But either way she is one of the coolest girl I've ever met. Always down to do whatever with all of us.

"You guys ready to head out?" Jessica asked.

I shrug with a lazy nod.

"Sure, where we going?" Smere replied.

Jessica crooks her head, placing a finger to her mouth. "Hmm, well we could go bowling or something."

"Ha, count me out." I say.

"Oh, come on Jon." she said.

I give a slight wave at her. "Thanks, but no thanks, I've had enough sports of a lifetime today. I'm just gonna head home, see what Anna is up to."

"Suit yourself." Smere stated.

I threw up a peace sign at them as I walk off the field heading to my car. I walk over to the car where it's parked by paint chipped curb on the street. I fling open the door, dropping into the seat with a crash. I'm far too tall to be driving this tiny thing, it site basically touching the ground.

I crank the key sending life to the engine with a quiet roar. I press down on the clutch, shifting into first, then take off on down the road.
