Paw Paw
When it was hot outside in the summer
I would always stay in
And sit around and wait
For my paw paw to come home again.
My Paw Paw was the king the house
He had his own chair.
He had a place for his hats
Even though he didn't have hair.
And in his top dresser drawer
He kept his coins in a sock.
And his favorite thing to say was
'Your Heeeaaaddd is as Haaarrrddd as a rock'.
He likes that old slow music
That doesn't have a real beat.
And he never bought us candy
Because He didn't have strong teeth.
But despite all the other possible things ,
My paw paw could say and do
His love for his family,
Is definitely true.
He woke up early in the morning
Everyday of the year
And he prayed for his family.
In his favorite chair.
He would collect cans and cuts grass
And although that sounds strange
Everything that he earned he saved,
He considered it spare change.
He wore hats in the sun
But not to keep cool.
He was so proud of his kids,
That he always reps their school.
He took pride in hard work
He was a retired blue collar.
Instead of living the fast life in the streets,
My Paw Paw was chasing dollars.
But when I learned the truth about his grind
I will forever pay him homage.
Because my Paw Paw worked day and night,
To make sure I made it to college.
All those days of laboring in the sun
Were not just for meaningless fun.
He passed down that hard working character
Down to his kids and grandson.
And even though what he earned with Those cans didn't add up to a lot.
It was the spare change in his socks,
That kept me off the neighborhood block.
He denied his sweet tooth
So we could see his truth.
He told us to always go to church
And serve the Lord in our youth.
And he knew there was a possibility
that I might one day stray away
So he made sure I was covered in Christ.
Like an umbrella on a rainy day.
His hats and His socks
Has all been passed down to me.
With hopes that one day
I will lead my own family.
My brothers it's hot outside.
But instead of staying in,
Let's put in work for our sons,
And show these boys how to be men.

Flawed
Sometimes I clap off beat
Especially when I stomp my feet
Sometimes I trip and stumble
and when I’m nervous I might mumble
or cuss or say something i shouldnt say
That could be so rude it might ruin your day
And sometimes I can go off on a tangent without giving it much thought.
The one thing me and my my mom have in common———-errrrrr sometimes I lose my train of thought.
Sometimes I see myself as a no one, a bad lover
A bad son, and friend, and brother.
...I’m flawed.
And with all of my issues, quirks and undiagnosed anxieties.
In can stand before you and say I love the flawed me.
Because when I look in the mirror from my head to my toes.
I love everything about me especially my big funny looking nose.
I am my biggest critic
So I don’t really need your shade.
I am accepted by the One who is
Ancient of days.
l’m flawed to the core but my heart is light.
Because when His strength is made perfect I know I’m gonna be alright.
So go ahead an judge me but I wont be ashamed.
I'm happy with who I am and I dont plan to change.
Flawed people run the world and hopefully you can see.
And when that time comes hopefully you can accept being flawed.

Mom
Mom is the best she can do it all.
If I should ever have a need
all I have to do is call.
"Hi mom I would like a sandwich
Ham and cheese on rye
A glass of milk sounds great
And while you're at it
Throw in a slice of pie."
And when I'm finished
I'll set my plate down in the sink.
My mom never hesitated
to provide a cold and refreshing drink.
I will never forget my mother
and all of the love that she gave.
She always looked out for me
regardless of how I behave.
She worked hard all day
just to keep her family afloat.
Despite all her bills
she made sure we had coats,
And hats and socks on our feet
She sent us to church
to learn how to pray before we eat.
And she never stops giving.
Just the other day
she practically gave
her whole paycheck away.
.......To her kids
She is a ride or die lady.
She has always had our backs,
Even when we drive her crazy.
And that's why I love her,
There is no other
that can treat me
better than my mother.
She 's the best.

Ambitious Plans
Starting out our day by making plans
Whatever we do lets always hold hands
Meet up for lunch in the middle of the day.
Get all dressed to go see a play.
Make reservations for dinner for two.
Take some time out on a Saturday so we can stroll through the zoo.
Going out dancing making it a night to remember.
Run away to our secret place one weekend in December.
Lay out on the beach and watch the stars after dark.
You get the food I'll bring the drinks
So that we can picnic in the park.
Instead of waiting on your birthday to treat you like a queen,
Everyday that I'm able I wanna give you everything.
My desire to make you happy is absolutely true.

There’s this kid in my class
His name is Dougly
We used to be friends
We used to be buddies
But one day we got in a fight
And we got real muddy
And my teacher called my mom
She said I was acting thugly
So my mom was upset

But it all started in class

Sometimes when I feel nervous,
And I need think things through
I tend to reach in my pocket
To find something to chew

And I know it's going to be a long day
When all I find is pocket lent

I stock up on assorted chocolate
And I hide it all in my desk.
So when I don't know the answer

Is sneak a piece of candy in my mouth

When I eat my chocolate
I love how it melts away
It brings back many good memories Like blue skies in May
It makes me feel
So careless and free
Whenever I'm eating chocolate
I'm helping my anxiety.
When others get anxious
They get mad and cause trouble
I just sit back and chill out
Because I am eating my truffles.
So when I get engulfed
By the cares of the day
I eat my favorite candy
And let my troubles melt away.

Hope's Door is a Glass Ceiling
I'm seeking a resurrection from a lonely glass grave.
In a hopeless state that no one can save.
The ground beneath me is warming up.
The soles of my feet are scaring but
Its so strange that I can't feel any pain
This heat is lifting me to the sky like
reverse effects of rain.
I'm fanning my arms because I don't want to die
But the ashes are forming wings on me and now I can fly.
The tomb is moving I'm not sure on what to do
I'm moving closer to the surface I think I'm going to burst through.
So I press and,,,

There's no turning back.
With one more thrust I can feel this glass ceiling,
CRRRAACCKK
Glass and dirt are falling to the fire-ry floor
Now I can finally see on the other side of Hope's Door.
Haaaayyyy!!!!
Take a look at me I'm free.
Flapping my wings that the fire designed for me.
Every thing that held me down is now in the below.
The sky is my stage and my flight is my show.
Rebirth from the fire but I still look down.
Searching for another trapped in the ground.
And if I see someone struggling to break free.
I wont hesitate to help them out because that used to be me.

Jimmy's New Bike
Jimmy has a new bike
And it goes really really fast
I tried to ride it last week
But I fell in the muddy grass
I had sticky mud all over me
From my toes to my chin.
And the only thing Jimmy said to me was
Cool- go do it again.
So I did it again and this time I didn’t fall.
Because I made sure to jump off
Right before his bike crashed into the wall.
But Jimmy wasn’t mad,
suprisingly he was glad
That I didn’t get hurt
because that would've been bad.
Even at a young age
Jimmy had a calling
He supported those close to him
In the midst of their falling
He took no pleasure in seeing
Someone stumble or trip
But instead he offered a hand
Whenever they needed a lift.
It's important that we all
have people like Jimmy around
Someone to bear our burdens
whenever we hit the ground.
And encourage us to keep going
Knowing that we might fall again..
That's the definition of being
a real good friend.
Jimmy has a new bike
And so do I.
We ride our bikes together.

Class Pet
They put me in time out
But I didn't do anything's bad
That ol' mean teacher
Says I'm the worst student he's ever had
But he don't know what he's talking about
He cant even see
all the things everyone else is doing
He only sees michevious me.
I try to do the right thing
I try to do what's good.
But there are still times I don't
Do all the things I should.
Like the time I brought my frog to class
He likes to hop everywhere.
He hopped right out of my hands one day
And into the teachers chair.
My frog was supposed to be a gift
From me to the entire class.
I thought that it would boots my grades
I though it would help me pass.
And everything seemed alright
By the way my friends would laugh and cheer.
But when my teacher finally walked in
His face froze up in fear.
Because when he saw a frog in his chair,
He started to scream and shout.
Then he looked at me with fury in his eyes
and said take your frog and get out.
My teacher had to change his pants,
because everybody could see,
That when he saw my little frog,
He let out a little pee.
So I had to take a time out.
My frog had to go with me too.
We were both trapped in this little room
Like animals in a zoo.
So if you want to do something for your class,
Please mark this one off your list.
Because if your teacher is like mine,
He'll probably be pissed.

Dirt
I wrote this poem to let you know
That the dirt in this place as to go
And as you read this poem you will see,
That I don’t dig dirt and dirt don’t dig me.
It causes too much havoc in this society.
And it makes extra work for you and me.
Believe it or not but its is true,
Let me give you an example or two.
Dirt is the stuff that you wash out of your hair.
It makes your booty bite your underwear.
When it gets in your eye you’ll cry and not laugh.
It will make you take a double bubble bath.
It will make you buy a mop and a broom.
It will even make you clean yourq room.
Now I want to erase dirt from this land.
Although long ago we used to be
friends.
We used to play outside in the good ol’ sandbox.
And when I went home I would have dirt in my socks.
I never knew dirt was trying to get me in trouble.
Until one day I got a whoopin’.
With my dirty ol’ sand shovel.
From that day on I left dirt alone.
I made sure I didn’t bring any dirt home.
But then one day when I fell in the street.
I noticed there was dirt up under my feet.
And from that day on we became foes.
Because dirt was the reason I fell off my toes.
The reason why I’m telling you about my former friend,
Is because you’ll never know when he’ll strike again.
So let this be a warning from me to you,
And look out for dirt before he gets you too.
